Sphynx of the Great Swamp [Dark Souls original boss design]

For a character design assignment, we were to fit our creation in an existing setting. I chose to create a monster for Dark Souls, mingling the series' aesthetics with elements I hold dear. The result was this creature, inspired by the classical Greek sphynx and Chinese Taotié masks, spindly and decaying. The role I gave her was the last standing guardian of a city long gone, eaten by the swamps. She stands still, curled around her perch, peaceful unless provoked - in which case she'll give everything to end you.

First phase, just awoken, weighted down with her mask and defensive. Anticipated heavy attacks with her claws.

Second phase : the player breaks her mask. Freed, she adopts a hunched, catlike stance, and is now able to bite and turn around fast.

Third phase : like the corvians in DSIII, she sprouts wings from the featherlike tendrils on her back, giving her ranged and swooping attacks.

Colored skin - if she were to walk while peaceful. The long legs and bowed head give her an imposing but elegant stride

Detailing the head, with and without mask. Without the weight of the metal forcing her into a coiled position, she sports a long birdlike neck and a feline face. She is blind.
